Celebrating Through Worship
.
God deserves our praise and has demonstrated to us His love in sending His Son to die in our place. Consequently we delight in celebrating our relationship with Him, declaring His love toward us and our love and devotion to Him. It's called worship, and at Sunrise Mountain we delight in celebrating together in worshipping the Lord.
.
Sunday Morning Worship Celebration
- Each Sunday morning we delight in gathering to worship the Lord together.
- Incorporating some of the great hymns of the faith along with some newer songs, and incorporating other elements such as drama, media, and special musical presentations by our choir / praise team and other groups, while always giving emphasis to the preaching and proclamation of God's Word, the Sunday Morning worship celebration is the "main event" of the week.
.
Sunrise in the Afternoon
- On the third Sunday of each month, we gather for a special blended / contemporary worship time, incorporating a variety of worship expressions, including contemporary music, drama, media, videos, to-the-point presentations of message from God's word, and other creative ways of engaging in celebrating as we worship our wonderful Lord, while also addressing fundamental and real issues we deal with in our daily lives.
- Then, following the worship time we enjoy a Family Fellowship time.
- Sometimes that might be a Wii Bowling Tournament, others might include a Men's Chili Cook-Off or Family Valentine's Fellowship or Family Movie, a Kids' Talent Show or In-House Scavenger Hunt, etc.
- Whatever the event involves we know it will be fun.
.
"Children's Church
- Children's Church at Sunrise Mountain is a specially-designed, kid-focused time of worship and celebration for children from kindergarten through third grade that meets during the Sunday Morning worship celebration each Sunday except the first Sunday of the month.
- Led by a committed team of adult volunteer leaders and some teenage helpers, Children's Church provides boys and girls an opportunity to worship and celebrate God's love for them in ways that are meaningful and appropriate to their age and needs.
- We ask the boys and girls to attend "big church" for the first part of the service, then to "join the parade" to Children's Church with all the other boys and girls and leaders as we "sing them out" to Children's Church.
- On the first Sunday of each month Pastor Mike invites the boys and girls to join him for a special Kids' Time presentation (children's message) during "big church" and to stay for the entire time. This gives them both the experience of being in "big church," knowing what goes on and being ready for when they reach the fourth grade. It also gives our Children's Church leaders a break so they too can be a part of the First Sunday worship celebration.
.
Preaching
- We believe the preaching and proclamation of God’s Word is to be just that: preaching God’s Word and not merely man’s ideas.
- Pastor Mike’s sermons are straight-forward, “no-holds-barred,” and yet based in love and laced with humor, rightly-dividing and interpreting God’s Word, but doing so in ways that are instructive, practical, helpful, and challenging.
- You can also confidently expect this same attention to details and doctrinal purity to be evident in any guest speakers who might preach at Sunrise Mountain.
.
Praise Team / Choir
- Sunrise Mountain’s Sunday morning praise team and Sunrise In the Afternoon worship band are made up of committed volunteers who love to express their worship by way of singing or playing instruments and who take their commitment seriously.
- The Sunday morning choir and musicians meet together each week to rehearse and prepare for giving leadership during our worship experiences and special musical presentations throughout the year.
- Under the leadership of Pastor Mike, our Sunrise In the Afternoon band, which includes drama folks as well as talented musicians and singers who voluntarily serve the Lord through a contemporary expression of worship, rehearse together and then provide leadership for Sunrise In the Afternoon, which begins at 4:00 p.m. on the 3rd Sunday of each month.
- If you would like to be part of the choir or praise teams, indicate your interest on a Connection Card during one of our worship services.
.
Sound / Visuals Team
- Sunrise Mountain’s sound / visuals team is a team of trained volunteers who, coordinating matters with Pastor Mike and our worship leader, prepare and operate our sound and video equipment, lighting, and all other technical aspects in worship services and other events requiring such.
- They also make CD-R copies available of our worship services to those who request them.
- Training is provided to all members who would like to serve on the team.
.
The Lord’s Supper
- We observe the Lord’s Supper together approximately every 6-8 weeks, focusing our attention, as the Lord instructed us, on Jesus’ suffering and sacrifice to purchase our pardon for sin.
- It is reverent and contemplative, as it should be, but it is also an occasion for celebration as we gather around the Lord’s table.
- We delight in welcoming anyone who is a believer to participate with us in this wonderful and meaningful time of worship.
.
Baptism
- We celebrate the ordinance of baptism on the first Sunday of each month and at additional times, as needed.
- As baptism is a testimony given by the person being baptized that he/she has already become a Christian, we celebrate this public declaration and are thrilled to lend our support and affirmation to the person being baptized.
- Since baptism is a symbolic act depicting how Jesus died and rose again to pay the price for our pardon, the believer is also depicting how the penalty for his or her sin has likewise been buried, enabling the believer to be been born again spiritually, raised up to walk in a new and fresh relationship with the Lord.
- Baptism doesn’t “save” a person, it is merely but powerfully a testimony by which an individual declares to the world that he or she has already been saved, already forgiven of his or her sin, and is now committing himself or herself to allowing Jesus to be the boss, the Lord, of his or her life.
- Consequently, we do not baptize infants, but only believers, those who have already made a personal and deliberate decision of receiving Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.
- And, we practice baptism as it was practiced in the Bible: by immersion, where a person is placed bodily under water symbolizing a person being laid under the ground in death, and then being raised up.
.
Drama
- We enjoy incorporating dramatic presentations, drama as part of musical presentations or special events, and short skits that enhance the message.
- If you're interested in being a part of the drama team, talk with either Pastor Mike or our Interim Worship Leader, Chris Yee, or indicate your interest on a Connection Card, or let it be known in the comments section at the bottom of this page. We look forward to all the future holds for this wonderful team.
