Discipleship at Sunrise Mountain

.
Discipleship is about growing, maturing in our faith as believers. It's important, and a pivotal part of what we do at Sunrise Mountain.
.
The ultimate goals of discipleship are to lead each believer...

  • To grow and mature in his/her knowledge of God and grow closer in his/her relationship with God.
  • To grow in knowledge and in understanding of the basic doctrines of the Bible.
  • To become aware and comfortable in employing the spiritual gift(s) God has given to that believer in accomplishing His mission through the believer.
  • To become more and more conformed to God's will.
  • To learn how to present the good news of the gospel to others.
  • To help in discipling others, especially new believers.

To achieve those goals, we engage in and provide the following:

  • Bible Study

    • In addition to offering Bible Study for all ages on Sunday mornings, a variety of Bible Studies and special discipleship training opportunities are provided throughout the week and throughout the year.
    • Whether sponsored by the Women’s Ministry to address issues ladies face, Men’s Ministry addressing men’s issues, or special study / discipleship times sponsored by the Youth Ministry or Children’s Ministries, special events hosted church-wide, etc., all are designed to help each person in attendance to allow the truths of God’s Word, the Bible, to impact his or her life.

  • Special Discipleship Training Opportunities

    • Throughout the year special training events are also offered.

    • These will include...

      • Mid-week Bible Study for Adults and teenagers, each Wednesday, 6:30-7:45 p.m.
      • "Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing the Will of God," a 12-week intensive study offered twice each year.
      • Regular opportunities to be involved in Evangelism Training
      • The Sunrise Class, a two hour class held once each month for anyone interested learning more about or joining Sunrise Mountain Baptist Church.
      • Vacation Bible School

    • Additional discipleship events and training opportunities will be offered periodically and will address topics such as...

      • Marriage Enrichment
      • Financial Freedom
      • Christian Parenting
      • Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts
      • And other topics.

  • Curriculum
    • We incorporate a variety of curriculum, depending upon the focus of the study, but all the curriculum has been examined to be doctrinally correct and suitable in achieving the desired goals for the study, is relevant in its application, and is well-suited to the age needs and life needs of the participants.

  • Teachers

    • Each teacher is appointed / approved by the Discipleship Coordinator and Leadership Team coordinator for the age group, and is a member of Sunrise Mountain unless a special circumstance exists for which the pastor has approved an outside teacher for a specific curriculum or study.

  • Prayer

    • We as individuals and we as a church are only as strong as our prayer lives.
    • A prayer time is hosted each Wednesday morning, 10:30 a.m.
    • And every Wednesday we gather for prayer at 6:30 p.m.
    • Every Sunday morning, Pastor Mike hosts a brief prayer time at 10:20 a.m. in his office just before the morning worship service to pray specifically for God's working, leading, and speaking to us during the service.
    • Then, throughout the week we stay in touch with one another and pray for needs as they arise.

  • Service

    • Ultimately, the greatest teaching tool of all is experience in serving the Lord.
    • Consequently, throughout the year we engage in a variety of mission action events, and encourage every member to be actively serving in at least one of the ministries of the church, choosing to serve according to his/her passion and giftedness.
