- No, I’m not trying to channel Martin Luther King,
- and my “dream” is more than just a dream.
- I believe it’s the dream God has unfolded in my brain, a vision He has implanted there.
- AND...I believe it’s God’s desire for it to become OUR dream TOGETHER.
- Are you willing and ready to hear it?
- Ready to envision it?
- I fervently hope so.
.
Let me unfold it for you as God has shown it to me, and then I want to ask you three important questions...
- The dream, the vision I believe God wants all of us to “catch” is that of a multi-generational, multi-racial church family that has joined their hearts together for the cause of...
- connecting with God in worship,
- helping others connect with God by accepting Christ as Lord,
- connecting with and learning from one another in small group Bible studies,
- connecting with one another to provide and receive encouragement,
- and joining our hands, hearts, and pocket books in helping people who are in need....both locally and globally.
- As we look closer, the vision is one where the tiniest of infants, preschoolers and school aged children look forward to coming to church and hearing about Jesus in creative ways from gifted and prepared volunteers who have invested their lives, their time, and their finances into these special little gifts from God, workers who delight in seeing the light go on in a child’s brain as he/she discovers a new and wonderful truth about God and how much He loves them.
- It is a dream, a vision that sees teenagers excited about gathering together with loving and committed adults intent on helping these wonderful young people cope and endure, but also thrive and succeed in discovering who they are becoming during this pivotal, transitional time in their lives, where they are given opportunities to “spread their wings” and contribute their energy, ideas, enthusiasm, and skills in reaching their friends with the truths of God’s love, of redemption, and of possibilities untapped or not yet experienced, but they’re there for them with God leading the way.
- It’s a dream of young adults excited to worship the Lord in a celebrative way, and even more excited to experience an extended family provided by believers of their own age as well as those older who will join with them in meeting the challenges of charting their life’s paths, raising children, and becoming the persons God created them to be.
- And it’s a vision of middle-aged adults and wonderful senior saints mentoring younger adults as well as providing support and encouragement to one another, aware that they still have things to learn, and blessings in store, and who are aware of and committed to reaching their neighbors, work acquaintances, and family members who need to hear and respond to the good news of the gospel.
.
Here are the 3 questions:
- 1) Can you SEE IT?
- I hope you’ll pray about it and let God show you as He has shown me where I believe He wants us to go, the goal He wants us to be committed to.
- As you do, if you have questions, let’s get together and talk.
- 2) Are you READY TO HELP?
- It won’t happen if it only stays a dream.
- It will require that we follow God’s lead and accept His timing, but it also means we’ll have to invest our energy, our finances, our skills, use our spiritual gifts, and work together as a team, as a committed family of believers.
- 3) WHERE do you believe you can provide help?
- It is God’s church, so He matches the direction He is leading with the people within whom He has placed a passion and the gifts, skills to accomplish it.
- I would urge you to pray about where that might be for you, and then commit yourself to helping there.
.
-
- In the meantime, know that I love serving as your pastor.
